We’re excited to announce two experienced South Australian coaches will take on the top job for the 17U and 19U State Teams.
Peta Maher has been appointed as Head Coach for the 17U team, supported by Kim Hocking as Assistant Coach.
Amanda Shattock was chosen as Head Coach for the 19U team, with Cassie Martin as Assistant Coach.
Netball SA Pathways Manager Roz Fraser says the appointments represent an exciting milestone for the state’s coaching pathway, with both Shattock and Maher holding Assistant Coach roles in the South Australian state team environment for several years.
“Our state team program has seen great success over the last few competitions, with Shattock and Maher instrumental in the leadership of their respective age groups,” Fraser said.
“We are proud to see these talented coaches continue to make strides in our pathway program, and their demonstrated skills made them a natural choice for the top roles.
“We’re confident these appointments are a wonderful opportunity for the continued development of emerging talent in South Australia and places us in a strong position to defend our national titles again in 2022.”
The impact of COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 National Championships. However in 2019, South Australia claimed both the 17U and 19U titles, with the 17U win also marking the state’s fourth title in a row for the competition.
Formation of the 2022 state 17U and 19U teams is now underway with Phase 2 of state trials announced last week, following the recent academy games.
Registrations are also now open for trials in both teams. Learn more and register here.
