Stadium Redevelopment
In April of 2024, South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas announced a $92 million redevelopment of the aging netball stadium at Mile End.
This incredible news will allow the venue to become a brand new centre for South Australian netball, giving our community the facility it deserves.
A redevelopment of this size will have an impact on the competitions and events held at the stadium and Netball SA is currently working with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) to ensure the least possible disruption.
We are committed to delivering our summer of netball for 2025/26 and are working with ORSR to secure alternative venues for key competitions.
Netball SA and the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing are excited to confirm that the start of construction for the exciting new stadium is here. The commencement of Stage 1 (outdoor courts and surrounds) commenced in late September with Stage 2 (indoor stadium) commencing early in the new year.
The outdoor courts will be completed, ready for the 2026 winter season.
Stage 2 will be a significantly larger undertaking and therefore completion dates and further details will be shared in due course.
Netball SA and ORSR look forward to seeing community netball thrive in the new facilities from 2026.
We will continue to provide updates to key stakeholders and our netball community as much as possible as we navigate this major project.
We acknowledge and appreciate the impact this will have on our wider community, but we’re so excited to create a world-class facility for our future generations of netballers.
