17U and 19U State Teams

The following fees apply to athletes participating in the 2027 Netball SA State Team Program:  

- Trial fee: $30, payable at the time of registration. 

- Athlete Program Fee: $2,700 - $3,200. 

- Uniform Fee: Up to $500. 

The exact fees will be confirmed prior to the commencement of the State Team training program.  

Registrations open: Monday 17 August 2026 

Registrations close: Friday 18 September 2026 at 5pm 

Late registrations will not be accepted 

Athletes are responsible for ensuring their registration is completed prior to the closing date and time. 

17U State Team :

Athletes must be eligible to compete in the 17U age category at the 2027 National Championships. Athletes must be at least 14 years old prior to the commencement of the competition and must not turn 18 during 2027. 

19U State Team:

Athletes must be eligible to compete in the 19U age category at the 2027 National Championships. Athletes must be at least 14 years old and must not turn 20 during 2027. 

Athletes aged 14-17 will initially be considered for selection in the 17U State Team. Where appropriate, athletes may also be considered for selection in the 19U State Team based on their age and development.  

To be eligible for selection in the 17U SA State Team, athletes are required to register for the selection process and attend ALL trials, unless otherwise specified below.   

The following athletes will progress directly to the relevant stage of the selection process: 

- 2026 Adelaide Thunderbirds Talent Academy Emerging Athletes – Phase 2
- 2026 Development Program Athletes – Phase 2
- 2026 15U State Team Athletes including Reserve Athletes (School Sport SA) – Phase 2
- 2026 17U State Team Athletes including Reserve Athletes – Phase 3 

2026 Nationally Categorised Athletes, including athletes who have attended National Camp during 2026, will automatically progress to the Squad Training Phase of the selection process.  

 17U State Team Trials:

The 17U State Team trials will be held at Adelaide Arena on:  

- Phase 1: Sunday 11 October 2026 - 9am – 1pm  
- Phase 2: Sunday 18 October 2026 - 9am – 1pm 
- Phase 3: Sunday 1 November 2026 - 9am – 1pm 

17U State Team Squad Training Phase: 

Squad Training will take place during November and December 2026, with sessions scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays:  

- Sunday 8 November – Sunday 13 December 2026  
- Thursday 12 November – Thursday 10 December 2026 

Selection will continue throughout the Squad Training Phase, with athletes assessed across the scheduled sessions. The final 17U State Team will be selected following the completion of the Squad Training Phase. 

Further information regarding the Squad Training Phase, including session dates, times and requirements, will be provided to athletes selected into the squad.  

Country-based athletes: Reasonable consideration will be given to athletes who reside outside the metropolitan area. Netball SA will work with country-based athletes to support their participation in the selection and Squad Training phases where required. Any arrangements will be considered on an individual basis and communicated directly with the athlete.  
 
17U State Team Training:
 
Following final team selection, 17U State Team training will commence from Sunday 10 January 2027 and continue through to the 2027 National Championships.  

Court sessions will take place on Sundays and Thursdays, with the full training schedule to be confirmed and communicated once the final team has been selected and the 2027 National Championships dates are confirmed by Netball Australia.  

Athletes wishing to trial for the 19U State Team are required to register for the selection process and attend the scheduled trial, unless otherwise specified below.  

19U State Team Trial:

The 19U State Team trial will be held at Adelaide Arena on:  

 - Sunday 1 November 2026 – 2pm – 5pm  

2026 Nationally Categorised Athletes, including athletes who have attended National Camp during 2026, are not required to attend the trial and will progress directly to the Squad Training Phase of the selection process.  

All other athletes are required to register for the selection process and attend the scheduled trial.  

19U State Team Squad Training Phase: 

Squad Training will take place during November and December 2026, with sessions scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays:  

- Sunday 8 November – Sunday 13 December 2026  
- Thursday 12 November – Thursday 10 December 2026 

Selection will continue throughout the Squad Training Phase, with athletes assessed across the scheduled sessions. The final 19U State Team will be selected following the completion of the Squad Training Phase.

The 18U Development Program provides an opportunity for athletes identified as having the potential to progress within the Netball SA Pathway.  

Athletes will be identified for the Development Program throughout the 17U and 19U State Team Squad Training Phases, based on their potential, development and progression within the pathway.  

Following the National Championships, further opportunities to join the Development Program may be provided to athletes who have not been identified by Netball Australia to attend the National Selection Camp. This provides additional training opportunities, development support and connection to the Netball SA Pathway.  

Selection into the Development Program does not guarantee selection into future Netball SA State Teams or other pathway programs.  

Development Program Training:

Development Program training will take place on Sundays from January through to August, with the full training schedule and program requirements communicated to selected athletes.  

Athletes selected into a Netball SA State Team are required to travel and stay with the team for the 2027 National Championships.  

Athletes are required to travel on the designated team flights arranged by Netball SA. 

Athletes are required to stay in the official team accommodation arranged by Netball SA.  

Parents, family members and friends are required to make their own travel arrangements and should not travel on the designated team flight.  

Parents, family members and friends are asked not to book accommodation at the same venue as the State Team.
