Michelle den Dekker OAM has been recognised as one of five 2025 Life Member inductees, celebrating their outstanding service and commitment to our sport across South Australia.
Michelle has contributed over 40 years of continuous service to netball in South Australia in roles including elite player, captain, coach, administrator, high-performance leader, mentor and community advocate. She has captained the Australian Diamonds, captained the South Australian State Team, played for Garville, Contax and Oakdale in the Premier League competition, coached for Garville, Tango and Metro Jets in the Premier League competition, was SA Head Coach at the Australian Netball League, head netball coach at the AIS, Assistant Coach at the Australian Diamonds, all on top of her ambassadorship and advocacy to grow and develop the game of netball in South Australia. As well as her representation at State and National level, Michelle has shown leadership and commitment with continued involvement in coaching and administration beyond paid roles, including mentoring coaches, leading community initiatives, and championing inclusive participation.
Michelle exemplifies Netball SA values through her integrity, professionalism and leadership at national and state level, with a career-long emphasis on education, respect, unity and excellence. Her influence spans athlete pathways, community participation, elite performance, and national success. She fully and exceptionally satisfies all criteria for Life Membership of Netball South Australia.
Michelle was presented with her Life Membership at Netball SA's 2025 AGM on Thursday, April 30th.
