South Australian star Sophie Casey has been rewarded for her stellar campaign at the Australian National Championships, taking out the Valour Most Valuable Player Award for 2023 for the Adelaide Thunderbirds Futures.
Fellow South Aussie Lucy Austin was recognised by her teammates for her impressive performances, winning the Jones Radiology Players’ Player Award.
Casey produced consistent performances throughout the tournament and was announced as the winner of the MVP award at the 2023 Netball SA Awards Gala.
The Matrics Netball Club midcourter excelled in the side’s bronze medal match against the West Coast Fever Reserves, recording 16 goal assists, 25 feeds and 18 feeds with attempts.
Austin was accurate to goal all tournament and produced her best performance in the semi-final against the Swifts Academy, shooting 34 goals at 100% accuracy.
The 21-year-old Adelaide Thunderbird premiership player was also revealed as the winner of the Players’ Player Award at the 2023 Netball SA Awards Gala.
