Training for community netball is set to resume following the latest announcement from the state government today, Tuesday, July 27.
Earlier today, Premier Steven Marshall confirmed South Australia's 7-day lockdown would come to an end at midnight tonight.
In addition, he advised training could commence for community sport. Netball SA has created the below update on what this currently means for the netball community in SA.
COMMUNITY NETBALL
- Training can commence from Wednesday, 28 July 2021 and competitions are planned to be able to resume as of the following weekend, Saturday, 7 August 2021. Netball SA is awaiting further detail as to whether or not this includes Friday, 6 August 2021 (subject to any additional SA Government announcements between now and then)
- Netball SA will continue to liaise with and support Associations to explore alternative competition structures for the remainder of the season

- The Netball SA Premier League competition draw is being revised to ensure play can resume once restrictions allow. Netball SA will continue to advise the Premier League clubs as the situation evolves and following directives from the SA Government
NETBALL SA STADIUM
- As previously advised, in consultation with SA Health, on Saturday 24 July, Netball SA Stadium was added as one of the SA Government’s COVID-19 testing facilities
- Netball SA will now work with SA Health on a smooth and safe transition back to netball being at Netball SA Stadium
- A deep clean will take place before the stadium is reopened to the public
- In the interim, we will work with our clubs and patrons on the use of outdoor courts for training
GENERAL
As of 12.01am Wednesday 28 July the following will apply:
Density requirement of 1 per 4 sqm for COVID Safe Plan venues and/or events (under 1000 in attendance)
- Masks required at all high-risk settings, personal care services, passenger transport, health care, indoor public places where face to face interactions with the public take place. It is a strong recommendation that masks are worn indoors in the workplace
- Household and private gatherings/activities limited to 10 in attendance
- Gyms to reopen with a density requirement of 1 per 8 sqm
SA Health has advised it will work with venues that have COVID Management Plans in place (over 1000 in attendance) to ascertain what this means specificly for those venues and/or events.
Please remember:
- If you have symptoms, even if mild, get tested immediately (and stay home while you wait for your results)
- Wash and or sanitise your hands regularly
- Keep 1.5m distance from others wherever possible
- Use COVID safe check-in
- Clean frequently touched surfaces
