Earlier today, Monday 2 August, the Premier confirmed further details around the update to directions effective from 12.01am Thursday 5 August 2021 with competitive sport set to resume.
Whilst the official directions will likely not be issued until Wednesday, please see below a general update on what this currently means.
COMMUNITY NETBALL
- Competitions are expected to be able to commence from Thursday 5 August 2021. Crowds are discouraged with spectators limited to those providing supervision for players. Netball SA advises that spectators should be reduced to 1 parent or guardian per player.
- Netball SA will continue to liaise with and support Associations to explore alternative competition structures for the remainder of the season.
- We understand there are unique situations across the state that impact netball so please reach out to the Stakeholder Relations Team if you require assistance in managing these situations.

- The Netball SA Premier League competition will resume this Friday 6 August with Round 13. The draw will be extended by 2 weeks with the Grand Final now to be played on Friday 3 September 2021. Further details will be communicated directly to the Premier League Clubs.
- Netball SA will provide further updates regarding other competitions held at the Netball SA Stadium.
NETBALL SA STADIUM
- As previously advised, in consultation with SA Health, on Saturday 24 July Netball SA Stadium was added as one of the SA Government’s COVID-19 testing facilities, helping to aid efforts during the lockdown period.
- The testing facility is being decommissioned today, Monday 2 August 2021, with a deep clean of the site being conducted overnight.
- It is anticipated the stadium will be reopened to the public on Tuesday 3 August 2021.
- Masks will be required for any indoor access to the stadium.
GENERAL
As of 12.01am Thursday 5 August the following will apply:
- Density requirement of 1 per 2 sqm for defined public activities.
- Density requirement of 1 per 4 sqm for gyms and indoor fitness (indoor fitness facilities includes gyms, health clubs, fitness centres, yoga, barre and spin facilities, dance and pilates studios and swimming pools).
- Masks are required at all high-risk settings, personal care services, passenger transport, health care, indoor public places where face to face interactions with the public take place. It is a strong recommendation that masks are worn indoors in the workplace.
- Household and private gatherings/activities are limited to 10 in attendance.
- Cross border community members can cross the border to participate in sport competition and training (provided within the 70km border bubble with Victoria)
Please remember:
- If you have symptoms, even if mild, get tested immediately (and stay home while you wait for your results).
- Wash/sanitise your hands regularly.
- Keep 1.5m distance from others wherever possible.
- Use COVID Safe Check-In.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces.
