Lee-Anne Cummins from the Newton Jaguars Netball Club, wins the 2024 Cobb’s Hill Coach of the Year Award for the community division, while Barbara Reed from the Seaford Storm Netball Club was crowned as the CITB Umpire of the Year.
These two high achievers have been recognised for their hard dedication and commitment within the Coaching and Umpiring space within the Netball SA community.
Lee-Anne has been acknowledged as Coach of the Year for her work within the Thunderbirds Academy, ensuring that players had access to expert coaching staff and created a space that nurtures the next generation of netball talent.
She has played a major role within Netball SA’s State Team program and has been Head Coach of the Talent Academy for the past two years, all whilst making time to support players and coaches all through the region.
Additionally, Lee-Anne has gone the extra mile to run coach and player development clinics on weekends in regional South Australia, to help young netballers in Kangaroo Island, Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Clare.
Lee-Anne is Netball SA’s worther winner of the Cobb’s Hill Coach of the Year Award as she has invested back into her club, association and the wider Netball SA community, but above all has been an outstanding role model for what coaches should strive to be.
Long standing umpire of the Southern Hills Netball Association and now inaugural member of the Seaford Storm Netball Club, Barbara Reed is a deserving recipient of the 2024 CITB Umpire of the Year Award.
Barb has umpired over 500 netball games in the last 50 years and has built strong relationships within the umpiring community to up-skill and mentor the next generation of umpires.
Additionally Barb played a key role in starting up the Coloured Shirt Program at the Seaford Storm Netball Club and is constantly looking at ways to up skill umpires within her club and association.
Despite suffering a back injury in 2024, Barb’s resilience and determination shone through as she stepped up to umpire the nine and under derbies for her club.
Both Lee-Anne and Barb received their awards at the Netball SA Awards Gala on October 5th.
