Chris has gained valuable knowledge and skills during his experience across a wide breadth of industries including retail, hospitality, leisure, FMCG, airline and resources sectors. Chris also brings to the role a decade of international experience spanning across the USA, Canada, UK and Europe.
Currently, Chris is the General Manager People, Performance and Culture at the Adelaide Football Club, another leading sporting and entertainment business. He is also the current President of the Australian Human Resources Institute SA and Chairs the Governing Council of his children’s school. Netball SA Board President, Graeme Gilbert, is delighted to have a candidate of Chris’ calibre join the Board.
“I am pleased to welcome Chris to the Board of Netball SA. He brings with him a unique skill set which compliments those of existing Board members. Chris has held senior HR roles in large listed corporate organisations as well as high performance sport,” said Graeme.
“I am confident he can play a positive role as we strive to deliver even more to our members and other stakeholders.”
With both notable experience working in sport and as the father of three children experiencing it at a community level, Chris was excited by the opportunity to help grow the game.
“My connection to netball is two ways, through both school and elite sports in South Australia. I’m very involved in my children’s school sports and see the significant part netball plays in school sport curriculum. My involvement with elite sports across a number of disciplines connects me to netball,” said Chris.
“My vision for netball is to be the sport of choice in Australia for competition, community and sustainability. From elite to grassroots, creating role models for all.”
With a passion for the business of sport, Chris is looking forward to using his expertise to help keep moving netball forward.
“I’m looking forward to bringing a pragmatic solution focussed approach to Netball SA. My experiences in sports and business combining to contribute across all areas, from elite to community.”
Chris will replace outgoing Board member, Steve Nolis, who first joined the Netball SA Board in 2016 and opted to not renominate again for the role. We take this opportunity to thank Steve for his ongoing dedication to helping grow netball in South Australia over the last few years, including serving as a valuable member of the Adelaide Thunderbirds Advisory Commission.
