Southern Force Head Coach Brian Lines said that after the match on Saturday they refocused on how to keep ownership of the ball following a turnover.
“We wanted to make sure that we capitalised on these opportunities which we failed to do in the first game and ensure that our conversion rate of our centre pass was higher.”
Refining their game plan worked with the match on Sunday playing out very differently. The Southern Force remained in the lead up until the final quarter but the game ended with Fury getting up by one goal, 50 – 51.
“It was a great game of netball with all players giving it their all,” Lines said.
“Fury are a quality team that included players from the Vixens taking the court, so they were always going to keep the pressure on whether in front or behind on the score board.”
Lines said that the team are excited and up for the challenge against another very strong group of athletes.
“It’s great for the Force players to be able to play what are the two top teams in the competition back-to-back.
“We have a very talented group of players who will always give their best and that’s all we can ask.”
The sixth-place Southern Force will take on reigning premiers the Tasmanian Magpies, who are currently sitting second on the table, this weekend in Hobart, playing on Saturday at 4.00pm and again on Sunday at 10.30am.
