Helping to enhance their learning while completing their SACE, students have enjoyed the opportunity to experience working in an elite sport environment.
Their involvement takes them behind the scenes for special events and game days, as well as coaching sessions and interacting with professional athletes.
SEDA College Principal, Matthew Daly, says the program has brought great value to students engaged with Netball SA.
“Students enrolled in our Netball SA program have experienced a multitude of benefits this year. Participating students have enjoyed work experience with an elite sporting body, which is something uniquely available to those who demonstrate the highest level of commitment to the SEDA program,” said Matthew.
“Most students have engaged in match day experiences, alongside Netball SA staff, and all students have engaged fully in their SACE and VET qualifications because the learning and assessment is tied to their area of passion: netball and sport in general.”

Maddy, a Year 11 SEDA College student says the program has provided her with unique experiences she may not have been exposed to in a traditional school environment.
“I am involved in a work placement with Netball SA, working in a role that focuses on sports administration. Working with the Netball SA team, working on events and being involved in game days are all things I look forward to,” said Maddy.
Netball SA are committed to providing all SEDA students coming through on the program with a first-class learning environment.
Lizzie Bermingham, General Manager – Netball for Netball SA, says the team love the opportunity to connect with students and help educate on our sport.
“The SEDA program connects students with a hands-on experience in the sport and recreation industry. For NSA this is an opportunity to be strongly connected to the education system and increase exposure for the Netball SA and Adelaide Thunderbird brands,” said Lizzie.
“Netball SA have had access to wonderful SEDA students who have volunteered at various Netball SA programs and events, including Adelaide Thunderbird match days, school clinics, Priceline Pharmacy Country Championships and ThunderCup. SEDA students have also provided great support to other areas of the business including reception coverage, netball administration and stadium operations.”
Lizzie says the students’ involvement in the programs has very well received by Netball SA staff.
“We have received excellent feedback regarding the role that SEDA students are playing in the NSA business. The students are very engaged, keen to learn and making the most of the opportunities presented to them,” said Lizzie.
