Ten rising stars for South Australia have been selected in the 17U and 19U national squads for 2025.
Seven athletes were named in the 17U squad, whilst three were named in the 19Us based on their consistent performances at this year’s National Netball Championships held in New South Wales.
The selected group named in the two squads will join fellow athletes from around Australia, who will have the best chance to elevate their netball skills across the course of the year with on court and off court learning.
Selection for the two squads were based on a variety of traits which included a high level of demonstrated skill as well as the overall potential for growth in performance.
Involved in this year’s 17/U national squad is Jazz McKay after her stellar campaign in the national tournament, being named MVP of the grand final and claiming the tournament’s MVP.
The selected athletes will enter national development camps designed to foster their growth on and off the court.
17/U squad members will come together at the Australian Institute of Sport this July, with the 19/U squad set for their camp in September.
Learning opportunities will be centered around specialist and skills-based court sessions, education on high performance behaviours, cultural literacy, fitness testing, and intra-squad match play.
The 19/U squad will also have an opportunity to participate in match play against the 21/U team prior to their World Youth Cup campaign in Gibraltar.
