South Australia will become the home of netball for the remainder of the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball home and away season as teams prepare to relocate ahead of Round 11.
Five SSN teams currently in Victoria will travel to SA today, July 15, in response to the latest outbreak of COVID-19 in the state.
The Sunshine Coast Lightning who are currently located in Queensland will travel to Adelaide tomorrow, July 16, to join the Hub.
With borders still open between SA and Western Australia, the league has confirmed the Adelaide Thunderbirds will travel to Perth to play the West Coast Fever on Saturday night.
The league is confirming the remainder of the fixture for Round 11 and beyond.
With games expected to be played at Netball SA Stadium in the coming weeks, Netball SA is talking with their stakeholders to work through what this means for the Adelaide Metro Netball Division and other Netball SA competitions.
Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said the netball community in South Australia would welcome the SSN competition with open arms.
“We know relocating will be tough on teams, but we’re excited to host these world-class teams and athletes in the coming weeks,” Ms Klei said.
“South Australia has incredibly passionate netball fans and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the world’s best netball competition.
“The Thunderbirds will travel to Perth on Friday to play the Fever on Saturday night but will return to SA for the remainder of the season.
“We’re awaiting a fixture from the league and will communicate with our fanbase and stakeholders as soon as possible as to what this means for stadium patrons and ticketing.”
