The Barmera Netball Club are the inaugural recipients of the Woolworths NetSetGO Centre of the Year Award for 2022.
After being named a finalist alongside the Strikers Netball Club and Strathalbyn Netball Club, Barmera were named winners at the Netball SA Awards Gala on Friday, October 14.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, Barmera locals Ashlee and Jackie dedicated themselves to rebuilding the club’s NetSetGO program after experiencing declining numbers due to the pandemic.
Their commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all players of all abilities has given young budding netballers in the region the chance to gain an invaluable entrance into the game of netball.
As a result, the program has been thriving and expanding, leading to the duo offering additional weeks of sessions to allow the participants to continue growing their love and understanding of the game.
2022 marks the first year of Woolworths’ involvement in the Net Set GO program as naming rights partner.
Woolworths have a desire to increase participation in the coming years and see a growth in young girls and boys playing the game of netball.
