Emerging goaler Lauren Frew has once again proven her impact on the Netball SA Premier League competition, being awarded the Rookie of the Year for 2021, presented by Fox Creek.
The award is handed to the best first-year player – as voted by the coaches – who has played at least four matches in the Premier division in 2021.
After winning back-to-back Reserves Most Valuable Player awards in 2019 and 2020, the 19-year-old made a name for herself in the Premier division this season, playing 12 matches for Matrics Netball Club and featuring heavily in their finals campaign.
Frew came through the Netball SA pathway and was a 19 and Under representative for South Australian in 2019 and 2020.
She was highly influential in Matrics’ Reserves side in 2019 and 2020, taking out the MVP in the 2020 Reserves Grand Final, and has now transitioned into the club’s League side.
Alongside League star Lucy Austin and ex-Thunderbird Laura Packard, Frew created a dynamic and versatile shooting circle for Matrics.
