Rising star Lucy Austin will take home the most coveted Premier League award of the night after being named 2021 Most Valuable Player (presented by Teamgage).
After taking out the MVP award in the 2020 Premier League Grand Final, the Matrics Netball Club goal shooter shined in 2021 as the key target for her side.
She led the league for goals scored with 673 and shot an impressive 46 goals from 51 attempts in the Grand Final.
Austin came through the Netball SA pathway, representing South Australia at both the Under 17 and Under 19 levels, and has continued to develop her netball in leaps and bounds each year.
The 19-year-old was also an Adelaide Thunderbirds training partner for the first time this season, taking her game from strength-to-strength alongside the best netballers in the country.
She travelled with the Thunderbirds’ during their 2021 pre-season campaign and also joined the side in the Queensland Hub for the final rounds of the Suncorp Super Netball season.
Despite missing a number of rounds during her time in Queensland, Austin has still taken out the MVP award.
She was also named in the goal shooter position in the 2021 Premier League Team of the Year.
In the Reserves division, South Adelaide Netball Club goal shooter Maggie Kerr has been named the 2021 Most Valuable Player (presented by Teamgage).
The 24-year-old has been with South Adelaide since 2013 and continues to be a reliable target for her side at the post.
Her combination with goal attack Courtney Maynard was an integral part of her side’s historic success in 2021.
For the first time in the club’s history, South Adelaide had a side in a Premier League Grand Final and Kerr was a big part of getting them there.
She was a strong performer in the Grand Final match-up, which her side only lost by one goal in the dying moments of the game.
