Netball across South Australia is finally on the road back following the State Government’s announcement late last week.
Speaking to media, Premier Steven Marshall outlined the latest easing of restrictions for the state, including several details that had been impacting community sport.
From today, Friday, June 19, SA moves into Stage 2.5 of the government’s roadmap, which introduces the following changes:
- The number of people allowable in a room (or a group outside) within a venue will increase from 20 to 75 providing 1 person per 4 square metres can be accommodated. This will apply to training or competition groups.
- The total number of people allowed in a venue will increase from 80 to 300 providing 1 person per 4 square metres can be accommodated. Again, this will apply to all people, indoor and outdoor who are gathered at a club.
Even better for netball is the changes that come at Stage 3 of the roadmap, set to be introduced on Monday, June 29.
From then, there will be no room or venue limit. This will be replaced with only a density requirement of 1 person per 4 square metres.
As a result, the Adelaide Metro Netball Division – Netball SA’s largest competition for both juniors and seniors – has been given the green light to return and the committee have set a start date for July 18.
As for Premier League, Netball SA is awaiting further clarity around indoor contact from the Office of Sport, Recreation and Racing.
For further clarity around the easing of restrictions, Netball SA has created this quick reference document to provide guidelines for Return to Competition.
