Netball SA and the Adelaide Thunderbirds have welcomed global food chain Subway as a principal partner for 2021 and beyond.
Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said the two-year deal was momentous for netball in South Australia from the grassroots level to the elite.
“We’re so excited to have Subway on board, their significant investment in our sport will benefit netballers of all ages across the state,” Ms Klei said.
“Subway’s commitment only strengthens Netball SA’s sustainability, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.
“This announcement, in addition to recent funding for an $18 million upgrade of Netball SA Stadium, means now is an incredibly exciting time for our sport.”
Subway Australia Country Director Geoff Cockerill said the partnership will not only raise awareness about the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle but will also ensure young netballers throughout South Australia have more opportunities to participate in the sport.
“Netball is the leading team sport for women and girls in Australia and we want to see this sport equality continue to grow, with every young person given the chance to participate and gain important skills,” Mr Cockerill said.
“Subway’s partnership will help enable Netball SA continue to grow and operate local teams and club tournaments of all ages - right up to their Super Netball team, the Thunderbirds.
“We also look forward to supporting these efforts by rewarding young netballers with exclusive Subway Player of the Match awards, with vouchers to enjoy healthy meals at their local Subway restaurant.”
