For the first time since 2017, each athlete in the squad has had previous DUANL experience. Lines feels that this experience will help make the side more confident when entering the 2020 season.
“Having learnt from the previous exposure to the DUANL intensity and challenges, we can enter the competition with a level of confidence and continue to build on the individual and team capabilities in 2020,” says Lines.
Part of the experience lies in two stand-out athletes returning to the Southern Force. Back-to-back Southern Force MVP mid-courter Kelly Altmann is returning from a one-year stint with the Adelaide Thunderbirds and former Adelaide Thunderbirds Training Partner, shooter Chelsea Lemke is returning from injury.
“We are lucky to have Kelly and Chelsea as part of our group. These two athletes inject maturity and a deep understanding of what it takes to be successful at the next level,” says Lines.
This season Lines will continue to focus on athlete development and is excited to work with a dedicated group of athletes.
“This group is very dedicated and have an inbuilt desire to win. Our goal is to ensure that we are doing everything we can to prepare ourselves as individuals and as a team, with the aim of this preparation reflecting in our on-court performances.”
Lines is looking forward to supporting this group of athletes not just in the 2020 DUANL, but also as they strive for opportunities in the next level.
“2020 is an important year for those athletes looking to impress for selection in the World Youth Cup team for 2021, so I am excited to support this group through this period.”
