Brian, who has been head coach of the Southern Force since 2017 and holds a High Performance Coaching Accreditation, doesn’t take the position for granted and looks forward to the opportunity to further develop South Australian talents.
“Having been in the role for a few years now I don’t take for granted my appointment as the 2020 Southern Force head coach,” Brian said.
“As a coach, I am always striving to ensure that we have an environment in the Southern Force that provides our athletes with the opportunity to be the best that they can be.
“This is an exciting time for Netball in South Australia. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to continue to work with and develop the cohort of talented athletes we have coming through.”
Brian will be supported by the new assistant coach Lee-Anne Cummins who has also been recently appointed as the 19U State Team head coach.
Lee-Anne, who has won four back-to-back National Netball Championships and is nominated for the 2019 Sports SA Coach of the Year Award, is looking forward to the new challenge of stepping into the assistant coach role of the Southern Force.
“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to work in the high-performance DUANL environment,” Lee-Anne said.
“I’m looking forward to working together with some of the players who I’ve previously coached in the 17U and 19U pathways and being a strong support person for Brian.”
Talking about the Southern Force coaching appointments, Netball SA’s General Manager – Adelaide Thunderbirds and Elite Pathways Melody Cooper said that both Brian and Lee-Anne bring a wealth of netball knowledge to the roles.
“Southern Force is a critical part of our Elite Pathway for athletes who aspire to play for the Australian Diamonds and Adelaide Thunderbirds.
