Competition Information

The Academy Games are played annually at Netball SA Stadium during the October school holidays as the culmination event to the Netball SA Academy Program.

The Netball SA Academy Program uses the national Develop a Diamond curriculum to provide a development pathway for identified coaches, umpires and players, aged 14-16 years.

Competing teams are from the eight regional, one metropolitan academy who complete the Netball SA Academy Program in their respective regions from February to October. For the first time in 2021, the SAASTA Aboriginal Netball Academy will also join the Academy Games.

The competition draw is structured on the number of players involved across all academies. Players can use the opportunity to showcase their skills for a chance to be selected at the games for Phase 2 State 17U trials.

An important step in the player development pathway, the Academy Games is the culmination of the dedication and hard work of not just the players, but also the coaches, program managers and umpires that are involved throughout the year.
