Netball SA Youth Advisory Group

Netball SA is excited to announce its second year of the Youth Advisory Group. The Youth Advisory Group will consist of up to 10 members who will be a part of the group for the duration of the year.  

The Youth Advisory Group was established with the following purposes:  

  1. To provide youth in netball with a voice and seat at the table to inform, influence and shape the future of netball in South Australia.  
  2. Develop and prepare youth for leadership roles and responsibilities in the future.  

The formation of this group is supported by the following recommendations given by the Flinders University Shape Report and is part of the Netball SA Strategic Plan.  

  • Establish a state-based committee to provide insight into the wants and needs of the netball community  
  • To continue nurturing the sport as a major pathway for the youth of South Australia through traditional and non-traditional means.  

In 2023 our Youth Advisory Group members were a part of reviewing our marketing strategies to ensure what we do is attractive and appealing to our next generation of netball players and administrators. They also undertook a major project that helped us identify certain areas of our workforce and helped develop strategies and programs to ensure young new coaches and umpires supported and well equipped.

FAQ's 

You will be part of this group for 12 months commencing 1 January 2024 until 31 December 2024. Within those 12 months you will have the ability to shape the future of netball in South Australia as well as building on your own leadership skills.  

The Youth Advisory Group will meet once a month for 1 to 2 hours. Subject to successful applicants, most meetings will be held virtually, however there will be one face to face session you need to attend every 3 months.  

Members of the Youth Advisory Group must act professionally as representatives, be passionate about netball and contribute to groups goals, ideas, and discussions.  

The Netball SA Youth Advisory Group will provide youth in netball with a voice and seat at the table to inform, influence, provide feedback and shape the future of netball. 

We will be helping to develop and prepare youth for leadership roles and responsibilities in the netball community in the future.  

The group was established as part of the Netball SA Strategic plan, to honour and invest in the next generation of volunteers for our sport .

 Monthly meetings will focus on discussing and brainstorming ideas to improve various aspects of netball. You'll have the opportunity to contribute your thoughts and perspectives on topics such as marketing strategies, youth engagement, and other areas relevant to the future of netball.  


 The Netball SA Youth Advisory Group is specifically designed for young individuals aged 14-24 years who are passionate about netball and want to make a positive impact in the sport. 

We believe that the unique insights and energy of youth will greatly benefit the group's objectives.
