Netball SA Masters

The grand finals for the Netball SA Masters Summer Competition were held on Wednesday April 11 with the ‘Hot Shots’ taking out the Division 1 and 2 premierships.

In Division 3, What Ever was too strong for Adelaide Echoes, and Stormbirds just had the edge over the Sizzlers.

Here are more details on the grand finals.


Division 1: Hot Shots 1 (41) vs D.O.G.S (36)

The D.O.G.S were aiming for three premierships in a row, but it wasn’t to be – with the team defeated by Hot Shots 1.

At three-quarter time the D.O.G.S were five goals ahead and looked to be in charge, but an amazing 15 to 7 goal last quarter by the Hot Shots saw them on top by five goals at the final siren.


Division 2: Hot Shots 2 (40) v Adelaide Spectrum (30)

Hot Shots 2 proved too strong for Adelaide Spectrum winning by 10 goals.

Strong second and third quarters saw Hot Shots 2 led by 13 at three-quarter time, but Adelaide Spectrum managed to close the margin by three goals in the final quarter.


Division 3: What Ever (33) v Adelaide Echoes (29)

This was a very close game with Adelaide Echoes on top at half-time, 16 to 14.

What Ever responded and won the third quarter by three goals, to take the lead by one goal – 23 to 22.

The last quarter went goal for goal for most of the quarter with What Ever taking the last quarter 10 to 7, and to come out on top by four goals.


Division 4: Stormbirds (28) v Sizzlers (26)

Extra time was needed in the Division 4 game! The Sizzlers got off to a hot start winning the first half 14 to 11.

In the third quarter, Stormbirds closed the margin by one goal, with the three-quarter score 19 to 17.

The fourth quarter saw Stormbirds come back and the scores were 22-all at the whistle.

Extra time of 2×3 minutes saw a tied score at 26 all. Play continued for another four minutes playing on for a two-goal advantage and Stormbirds taking the hard-earned victory 28 to 26.

Chris Allen, coordinator for the Netball SA Master Competitions, congratulated all teams for a great season, and thanked umpires, volunteers, first aiders and Priceline Stadium staff.


City Night Division

City Night Division finished in mid-March with the grand finals held on March 20 and 23.

Contax took out the A Grade Premiership defeating Matrics by 13 goals, 54-41. In A2 Wood Panthers just fell short to Adelaide Wildcats, 44-46.

Oakdale was highly successful in the junior divisions winning in Junior 1 and 2 divisions, and Sub-Junior 1 by one goal against Matrics.
