Stories from our netball community

With 2019 just around the corner, we are looking back at the special moments from this year!

If your team, club or association has a story you want to share in 2019, email media@netballsa.asn.au

MinMan Eagles Netball Club

The club’s A1 coach Laura Ross made her netball comeback to play with her two daughters, Gracie 17, and Molly 15, in an A1 game.

The team was really short one week with players away, so Laura checked with the committee to see if she could play for two quarters.

Seeing the trio playing together was fantastic to watch!

Newton Jaguars Netball Club

Wendy McDonnell (pictured right) was secretly nominated for the Cadbury Community Champion Competition, which was advertised through Netball SA.

The nominee had to be part of a netball community and club and offer outstanding fundraising efforts, supporting not only Cadbury, but netball as well.

Newton Jaguars strongly support Cadbury and Wendy has too for many years. So, it was very fitting when Wendy received a phone call to congratulate her on the nomination, but also on winning the Major Prize!

Wendy plus three others flew to Brisbane on an all-expenses paid weekend to watch the Constellation Cup on 7 October.

Gazelles Netball Club

Netball isn’t usually a place for romance, but this year Gazelles Netball Club celebrated as two of their senior members were married. Vice President Toby Frazer married 200-game player and coach Samantha Jamieson. Everyone is looking forward to welcoming a new baby Gazelle to the family in 2019.

Gazelles’ A1s continued their impressive winning streak winning their 4th A1 premiership in five seasons.

Gazelles’ B3 side had a number of injuries throughout the season. With new players and fill-ins they had to work extremely hard every week with new combinations. Their hard work paid off winning the premiership by 1 goal.

Primary 4, the youngest competitive team, had barely won a game all season. A split draw gave them the exciting opportunity to play finals. Rising to the occasion the team did their coach and club proud winning their grand final by three goals.
