SAASTA Aboriginal Netball Academy is off to Melbourne

The SAASTA Aboriginal Netball Academy will travel to Melbourne on Tuesday 26 June in a trip that will incorporate cultural activities and netball development.

Netball SA and SAASTA have worked with Netball Victoria, Richmond Football Club and the Collingwood Magpies Netball Club to create a trip that will see athletes taking part in both cultural activities as part of their SACE curriculum, as well as netball skills development, strength and fitness training and netball matches between selected Victorian Indigenous and multi-cultural teams.  The athletes will also tour the Collingwood Magpies Netball Club and attend a Suncorp Super Netball and an AFL game.

The trip provides a great opportunity for the athletes both on and off the court and gives them a chance to extend their sporting networks interstate.

SAASTA Aboriginal Netball Academy athlete Stella said she’s looking forward to the trip especially the opportunity to see the Suncorp Super Netball game between the Collingwood Magpies and West Coast Fever.

Stella said she loves the SAASTA program, as she likes socialising with the other students and the Stage 2 studies that investigate identity.

Look out for a wrap up of the tour in next month’s Netball News.
