Matrics and Contax crowned with excellence award

Matrics and Contax were joint winners of the 2018 Premier League Club Excellence Award.

The award, presented to the clubs by Deborah Dickson Head of Retail at HomeStart Finance, acknowledges that Matrics and Contax had achieved an overall level of excellence in its netball programs in 2018.

The award reinforces the existing criteria for Premier League Clubs, which requires each club to have teams in the top AMND, Intermediate, Junior and Sub Junior grades. It is hoped the award will also provide an incentive to clubs to take their responsibilities for junior development to another level.

Matrics President Peter Mazzachi said the award recognises the hard work that so many volunteers do to get the best out of the club’s players and coaches.

“It’s just not an award for the Premier League and Reserves teams, it’s a whole club award,” he said.

Mr Mazzachi said the award also highlights the good environment created at Matrics and that the club is focussed on not only developing the netball skills of players.

He said that there are great friendships within the players and the skills learnt through being part of a netball club, for instance team work, can be translated into other parts of players’ lives such as in their jobs.

“There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure we get the best out of our players,” he said.

HomeStart Finance is a partner of Netball SA and Ms Dickson congratulated Contax and Matrics on their achievements.

“This award not only highlights the great achievements of Contax and Matrics in the Premier League competition, but their commitment to developing all their players and ensuring a positive environment is created at the club,” she said.

“As we know playing sport not only has health benefits for participants but brings people together to socialise and most importantly to have fun. HomeStart Finance is committed to building strong and thriving communities – from helping South Australians to achieve the dream of home ownership, to supporting organisations like Netball SA who bring people together through sport.”
