It’s all GO for 2018

As was announced in October Netball News, Netball Australia has officially launched the final tier of NetSetGO, with ‘GO’ to come into play across Australia in 2018.

GO, a modified competition for 8-10 years olds, has a large focus on netball specific skill development through the introduction and reinforcement of new netball skills.

As a nationally accredited program, NetSetGO is aimed at enticing new participants to the sport and elevating their love of netball, whilst further strengthening the talent pool of netballers who will progress along the national pathway in the future. Your budding player could one day be an Adelaide Thunderbird or Diamond!

The ages that correlate with NetSetGO – as per the NetSetGO website and information you might see through Netball Australia – don’t fit with the way our age groups are structured here in South Australia. Therefore Netball SA has endorsed two options for our clubs and associations to implement to experience a smooth transition to the NetSetGO program in 2018.

2018 Suncorp NetSetGO Option 1:

NET remain as a skills activity program – 5 years

SET transition into a skills activity program (no modified competition) – 7 years and under

GO modified competition – 9 and under players

2018 Suncorp NetSetGO Option 2:

NET remain as a skills activity program – 5 years

SET modified competition – 7 years and under

GO modified competition – 9 and under players

We anticipate that the two options will assist netball associations within South Australia to effectively implement the NetSetGO program in the face of limitations, including a lack of court space and insufficient registration numbers within some age groups.
