Wet weather failed to put a dampener on the spirits of over 400 primary school students who took part in Get Court Carnival on Friday 17 November.
The round-robin netball carnival took place at Priceline Stadium as part of the ACPHER PE Week, which is aimed at promoting health and physical education among school students.
Participating schools included Scotch College, Pedare Christian College, Braeview School, Brighton Primary School, Endeavour College and Stradbroke School.
Stradbroke School student Pippa was not deterred by the unseasonable wet November day saying she enjoyed playing in the rain as it created a greater challenge.
Her teammate Holly said a highlight was meeting Adelaide Thunderbirds players Hannah Petty, Leana de Bruin and Bongiwe Msomi who were on hand to cheer from the sidelines and take photographs with the students.
The Suncorp NetSetGO activity centre was ever-popular, with students testing their shooting skills between matches. Several businesses also contributed to the success of the day, including Balfours, Slush Happy, South Australian dairy producer Fleurieu Milk and popular yoghurt brand Chobani, all ensuring the players were hydrated and well-fed throughout the day.
Nivea and Sunsense donated sunscreen, which will no doubt be gratefully appreciated by the teachers and students during their summer PE lessons!
