Close competition at half-way mark

At the half-way mark of the City Night Division (CND) and the Netball SA Masters competitions, it’s time to reflect on the nine rounds of netball that have been played.

In Masters Division 1, Mod Squad remain undefeated, while Hot Shots 1 are close behind only dropping one game.

Organiser of the Masters competition, Chris Allen, said this season there are 26 teams competing.

“From the 2017 winter season we have seen two teams, D.O.G.S and Stars, return to Division 1 and that has strengthened the competition,” she said.

“In Div 1, there are five teams vying for the top four positions and to play finals, so it’s quite competitive.

“In Division 3, three teams – Adelaide Echoes, Loveys and What Ever, have all won six games, and are only separated by percentage, so it’s extremely tight.”

In the City Night Division, Contax are on top of the A Grade ladder with seven wins, one draw and one loss. In Division A2, Metro Jets are in the lead with six wins and two draws.

CND organiser Ros Collins said this season there are 279 teams competing on Tuesday and Friday nights at Priceline Stadium. Having been involved in the competition for more than 30 years, Ros said she enjoys watching the younger players and keeping in touch with the netball community.

The ladders for Masters can be found here, and the CND here.

Players are now enjoying their Christmas holiday breaks. CND players will return on Tuesday 30 January, and Masters on Wednesday 31 January.
