After six years in the role, Netball SA CEO, Ben Scales, has made the decision to resign from his role.
Mr Scales said that while it was a difficult decision to make, the timing was right for both himself and the organisation.
“I am incredibly proud of where Netball SA is situated to tackle the challenges that lay ahead, and I leave the organisation well placed to build on the outcomes and success that we have achieved over the past six years,” Scales said.
“It is time for someone new to lead the business through the next stage of its evolution, including the delivery of a new and exciting strategic plan.”
Netball SA President, Graeme Gilbert, acknowledged Scales’ significant contribution to the organisation and the sport over the past six years.
“Ben’s commitment and dedication to the organisation is unquestioned and this is underlined by his desire to ensure a smooth transition for the business over the coming months,” Mr Gilbert said.
“The business has grown and evolved under Ben’s leadership, and he leaves us with a legacy of business growth and increased participation.
“He is well respected within and outside the business and will be missed by all involved in the sport, both locally and nationally.
“On behalf of the Board, staff and members I thank him for his contribution and wish him and his family all the best for the next stage of their lives.”
In the past six years Mr Scales has led dynamic change within the organisation, in particular over the last 12 months which has seen a number of significant initiatives implemented.
These initiatives will come to life over the coming years and will grow the sport for the thousands of South Australians who participate in netball and build sustainable success for the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Scales will continue with Netball SA until mid-March 2019 to work with the staff and Board to ensure a successful transition ahead of the 2019 season and the Board will begin the search for a new CEO in the coming weeks.
