Funding Opportunities

There are various funding bodies that provide grants to local sporting clubs & associations.  Grants are available to upgrade facilities, develop skills, purchase equipment or support athletes.

Club One Major & Small Project Grants Club One (SA) Limited makes large and small sponsorships available to community clubs and associations on a regular basis and has, during the past 18 months, allocated more than $100,000 to South Australian clubs and associations.Major Project Grants:

These are made twice a year and come from two pools of approximately $50,000.  Sponsorships are available in the $2,000 to $10,000 range.

Applications are considered in the periods September to November or March to April, and announced in January or February, and June or July respectively.


Small Project Grants:

These are considered every one to two months and announced regularly throughout the year.  Small sponsorships are to a maximum of $500.

Associations and ClubsTo be eligible for a grant, applicant clubs and associations cannot operate gaming machines on their premises.

Office for Recreation and Sport Association Volunteer Scholarships The Recreation and Sport Youth Traineeship Incentive Program offers funding to active recreation and sport organisations towards employing a trainee.  Incentive packages of $5,000 each offset the wages and administrative costs of taking on a Trainee. Office for Recreation and Sport Active Club Program (ACP) To provide financial assistance to support grassroots sport and active recreation organisations to strengthen and sustain active communities. This purpose of this program is to increase all South Australians’ access to quality active sport, recreation and facilities.  Preference will be given to applicants who have not recently received funding through ACP, who have completed or have registered with STARCLUB and who are affiliated with their Peak Body. Office for Recreation and Sport Country Athlete Awards 


Country Athlete Award funding from the SA Sports Institute.  Grants of approximately $800 can be applied for to assist with travel costs to training and competition.   • Community Benefit SA (CBSA) provides one-off project funding to incorporated, non government, non-profit organisations to develop and strengthen communities across South Australia.  Grants aim to improve the community participation, life management skills, well-being and quality of life of disadvantaged individuals, families and communities.  Visit for further information.


  • Cash 4 Clubs is a funding scheme for sports clubs who are registered with their sports national governing body. Clubs can apply for a grant up to $1,000 to maintain and improve their club.   Visit for further information.
