The countdown is well and truly on to the 73rd Priceline Pharmacy Country Championships, with thousands of people to converge on Netball SA Stadium this long weekend for the much-loved competition.
Players, umpires, officials and spectators are in the final stages of preparation for this year’s Championships, on target to be the best yet according to Mary Hewett, Convener of the Organising Committee.
“We’re all really looking forward to a successful long weekend of competition, with 26 Associations involved with the 73rd Championships,” she revealed, adding that there are 94 teams competing this year, two more than last year.
“In addition to more players, we also have strong numbers for B and C Badged umpires being tested this weekend to obtain their Badges. The only way umpires can gain their B Badge is through testing at the Country Championships, so this is a great result and we look forward to successful results this weekend.”
With lots of interactive stalls and stands, delicious food, and freebie giveaways – as well as quality netball! – Netball SA Stadium will be the place to be this June long weekend, said Hewett, praising her Committee and Netball SA staff for their work in pulling the event together.
