Netball SA is proud to announce that Brian Lines will be the Head Coach of the Southern Force for the 2018 Australian Netball League.
He returns to the role for the second year, after the Southern Force finished just outside the top four and debuted eight South Australian athletes across the 2017 season.
Lines first worked with the Southern Force in 2014 as Assistant Coach before taking on the role of South Australia U21 Coach for two years, including winning the National Champions title in 2015. He is currently the Premier League coach at Oakdale Netball Club.
A member of Netball Australia’s Targeted Coach Program in 2015 and 2016, Brian was awarded the Nine News Netball Cup Coach of the Year award in 2016 and is currently working towards achieving his High Performance Coaching Accreditation.
Lines is excited to return to the role of Southern Force Head Coach for the second year.
“I am really pleased to be given this opportunity by Netball SA to coach the Southern Force in 2018,” said Lines.
“The competition is so strong and I really enjoyed the challenges of coaching athletes to achieve at this level, against the standard of opposition and the overall dynamics of the ANL competition.”
“We have always been a proud netballing state and the Southern Force team provides a development opportunity for our potential SSN athletes to take the next step on their netball pathway to represent our state at the highest level.”
“The entire team selected to be part of the 2018 campaign will need to be committed to take a step up from 2017. We learnt some lessons of ourselves and others and we need to be better in a number of ways, which will start with a personal commitment by all to the Southern Force,” he said.
The final Southern Force squad is expected to be announced in the coming months.
