Two clubs shine with STARCLUB recognition

Two netball clubs in the state’s South East, Mt Burr and South Gambier, have been recognised for providing a supportive and nurturing environment by achieving STARCLUB recognition.

The award, the highest level of achievement in the STARCLUB Recognition Program run by the SA Office for Recreation and Sport, highlighted that the two clubs are valued within the community, as well as the safe and welcoming environment their players, coaches and officials have created.

In the email notifying Mt Burr Netball Club of the recognition, it highlighted the club was well-respected and a genuine club of choice for many in the local community, and praised its governance and off-field management.

The STARCLUB Recognition Program provides a checklist for clubs to ensure they are operating legally, by having risk management, equal opportunity and child safe environment policies in place. It also assists with strategic planning to ensure the club can be sustainable into the future and provides tips and support to help clubs with volunteer retention and recruitment.
