A new-look Southern Force squad has been announced with 15 emerging netballers chosen to train and aim for team selection for the 2018 Australian Netball League.
Head Coach, Brian Lines, said the squad features seven players who are yet to play a game for the Southern Force.
“Selectors have focussed on choosing players who they consider have the potential to progress their netball careers to the next level,” he said.
“The Southern Force plays an important part in developing the players’ game, and provides an opportunity for these athletes to further their careers and ultimately play in the Suncorp Super Netball league.
“To bring them together in the squad and see how they develop and perform will be very exciting.”
Lines said the aim for the 2018 team is to make finals, a feat which the 2017 team narrowly missed out on.
“The entire squad will need to be committed to take a step up from 2017 and a key to this will be a solid pre-season and strong training environment,” he said.
All five 2018 Adelaide Thunderbirds training partners: Gia Abernethy, Charlee Hodges, Emily Burgess, Chelsea Blackman and Chelsea Lemke will be available to take the court for the Southern Force in the 2018 season.
The squad will have its first court session in late October, with the team announced in February 2018. The 2018 ANL season begins in May.
