Diamonds shine in Adelaide

In the lead up to the third match of the Constellation Cup eight lucky fans, including Claudia Guy, gained exclusive access to watch the Samsung Diamonds train at Priceline Stadium.

Claudia, who attended the training session with her best friend Jasmine, said she felt excited and a little nervous before meeting the Australian netball team.

“I was really surprised when I won the competition to see the Diamonds train,” she said.

“I liked watching them warm-up and while they trained they were all very happy.

“All the players were really nice and we had photographs with them.”

Claudia’s mum, Siobhan, gave a huge shout-out to the Aussie team for the warm welcome they gave Claudia and the other competition winners.

“All the players were lovely, and took time out to chat and have photographs with Claudia and Jasmine,” she said.

The Guy family attended the Diamonds clash against the Silver Ferns on 11 October, with the Aussies coming out on top by 12 goals to retain the Constellation Cup. The final score was 55-43.

The Diamonds held a 14-goal lead in the second quarter, but the margin was slashed to three late in the third, following a reshuffle of the New Zealand side.

“It was the first time I had seen Australia play and during the third quarter I did get quite nervous,” Claudia said.

“I was really happy when the Diamonds won, the crowd was really loud.”

The Constellation Cup was played across four games with the Diamonds taking a clean sweep of the series.
