It will be the first time the Championships will be played on the stadium’s 26 newly surfaced outdoor courts that were resurfaced as part of a $658,000 State Government grant.
Recreation and Sport Minister Leon Bignell will open the Championships on Saturday morning in front of players, umpires, officials and spectators from around the state.
“In 2014 we provided more than $650,000 to resurface courts, which are used by thousands of netballers across South Australia each week,” Bignell said.
“This weekend will be the first time the Country Championships are being played on the new courts and I’m really excited to officially open this event.”
Nine News Weather Presenter Jessica Braithwaite will MC the opening ceremony, with other special guests in attendance including Thunderbirds players, Priceline Pharmacy CEO Stephen Roche and Netball SA President Graeme Gilbert.
Conveyor of the Country Championships Organising Committee Mary Hewett is certain the event is on track to be the best one yet.
“We’re all really looking forward to a successful long weekend of competition with 26 associations and 92 teams competing in the 74th Priceline Pharmacy Country Championships,” Ms. Hewett said.
“With more than 900 players and 350 officials attending it’s set to be a fantastic weekend of netball.”
With a Fan Village full of interactive stalls and stands, delicious food, and giveaways – as well as quality netball! – Priceline Stadium will be the place to be this June long weekend.
